Relieve Summer Swelling

It is not uncommon to experience puffy feet or swollen ankles in the warmer weather. As your body naturally tries to cool down in the heat, veins will dilate, making blood flow a little, more sluggish than normal and the blood going back to the Heart is not as effectively returned.

A healthy, blood circulation is needed to also help aid lymphatic flow and when the body gets hot, fluid in the lymphatic system will enter tissues as part of a mechanism to try and hold on to fluid in the body. This fluid retention can cause swollen ankles, swollen feet and swollen limbs to some degree, whether its puffy toes and feet or painful swelling in the lower leg, many of us have experienced this fatigued puffiness at some time or another.

So the obvious thing to do is keep hydrated, but you can also find relief from this 'Summer Swelling', by using compression hosiery. Support socks and compression stockings help soothe tired legs and relieve swelling by helping to improve the blood circulation in the legs. When the venous return (blood going back to the Heart) is improved, this in turn helps the Lymphatic flow and the movement of fluid is shifted again around the body, helping to reduce swelling and discomfort caused by the heat.
